The National Library of Somalia proudly participated in the 36th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) held in Doha, Qatar, from December 15-20, 2025.
The conference, themed "Libraries in the Digital Age: Challenges and Opportunities," brought together library professionals from across the Arab world to share experiences and best practices.
SNL's Participation
The Somali delegation presented a comprehensive overview of the library's ongoing revival efforts, including:
- The three-pillar revival strategy
- Progress in digitizing rare manuscripts
- Plans for the national digital library
- Partnership opportunities with regional libraries
"Our participation in AFLI reflects our commitment to rejoining the regional and international library community," said Director General Mohamud Mohamed Siad. "We have much to learn from our Arab colleagues and valuable contributions to share."

During the conference, SNL signed preliminary agreements with several national libraries for:
- Staff exchange programs
- Resource sharing initiatives
- Joint digitization projects
- Professional development opportunities
